Role Overview
The Equity Analyst will be an integral member of the Research Team, supporting the delivery of high-quality equity research and investment analysis across listed securities on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and, where relevant, regional markets. Reporting directly to CEO, this role is well-suited to a driven, analytically minded individual looking to build a career in equity research and capital markets.
Key Responsibilities
Equity Research Support — Assist in the preparation of equity research reports on CSE-listed companies, including initiating coverage notes, sector reports, earnings previews, and investment updates, ensuring outputs are accurate, well-structured, and delivered on time
Financial Modelling & Valuation — Build and maintain detailed financial models, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow projections, applying appropriate valuation methodologies, and comparable company analysis
Market & Sector Monitoring — Track daily market movements, corporate announcements, macroeconomic developments, and sector-specific news relevant to the team's research coverage universe, providing timely summaries and flagging key developments to senior analysts
Data Collection & Analysis — Source, compile, and analyze financial and operational data from company filings, annual reports, CSE disclosures, and other relevant databases to support research outputs and investment recommendations
Company & Industry Analysis — Conduct in-depth analysis of company fundamentals, competitive positioning, industry dynamics, and regulatory environment to support the formulation of well-reasoned investment views
Client & Internal Reporting — Assist in preparing investment-related materials for internal strategy meetings, client presentations, and portfolio review discussions under the guidance of the Head of Strategy and Investment
Regulatory Awareness — Maintain awareness of SEC of Sri Lanka regulations, CSE listing rules, and corporate governance standards relevant to equity research and investment analysis
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
Part or full qualification in CFA Sri Lanka is a distinct advantage
Prior internship or exposure to equity research, investment analysis, or capital markets
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial data platforms is an advantage
Strong numerical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely
